About Us
Who We Are
RadioHow is a practical guide for people who use CB, ham, GMRS and marine radios. We focus on the gear that makes a radio work well, including antennas, coax, connectors, meters, microphones and the radios themselves. Setting up a radio can feel confusing, because there are endless antenna styles, cable types and settings, and a small mistake can ruin the result. We explain what matters in plain language and narrow the field to picks worth your time. Our advice is shaped by the hands-on experience of our author, Ron Tilghman, a two-way radio installer who has spent sixteen years mounting, tuning and repairing radios in trucks, boats and home stations.
Our Mission
Our mission is to help every reader get a radio setup that works, and to make the fix easy to understand when it does not. We want you to leave a page knowing what to buy, what to skip and how to install it correctly. That means explaining grounding, SWR, cable loss and mounting in plain steps, being honest about tradeoffs such as price, durability and complexity, and putting electrical and antenna safety first. We believe a clean install and a few good habits matter more than the most expensive gear on the shelf.
Our Vision
We picture a trusted place where a beginner can start with a simple question, such as why an antenna reads high on the meter or which radio suits a first truck, and find a clear, careful answer. Over time we want RadioHow to be a first stop for anyone installing a new radio, adding an antenna or chasing down noise, and also a useful reference for experienced operators who want to compare gear or refine an existing setup. Troubleshooting should feel calm and logical, not like guesswork.

Our Content Standards
We aim to keep every page useful, honest and easy to read. Product picks are based on build quality, connectors, ease of installation, signal and audio performance and the kind of feedback buyers commonly share, and we explain our reasoning so you can judge it yourself. We use cautious words such as may and often, because results depend on your vehicle, location and local conditions. We do not promise a particular range or result, and we do not give legal or licensing advice. When a page contains affiliate links, we say so openly. We update articles when products change or when we learn something new, and we welcome corrections through the contact form.
Most weak signals are solved at the mount, not at the microphone.
